Disc Golf: Media Buzz
Media Buzz
Disc Golf is one of the fastest growing sports in America and possibly the world, yet getting the masses to pay attention has been a slow, painful, herculean effort. In the last few years though, our sport has gained a little exposure in the main stream media. Television being what it is, a short attention-spanned, ratings grabbing juggernaught, has been the hardest place to get a foothold in. So, the fact there are a few instances of Disc Golf on T.V. are very encouraging and can only become more frequent as the sport gains enthusiasts. As motivation for everyone trying to get us exposure, more courses, more attention in the media and ultimately accepted into the Summer Olympics, I present you with a some of our proud moments in the spotlight. Enjoy!
In an August article on ESPN’s Page 2, Jack McCluskey follows Avery Jenkins and Barry Shultz out to play some disc golf, has an interview with Ken Climo and talks shop with Brian Graham and Billy Crump while doing an excellent job of introducing the sport to his readers. Check it out for yourself here!
ESPN’s Morning Pizza aired this segment in May of 2006. I gotta say, Jay Crawford can putt pretty good for a newbie!
Here Mace Man (aka Brian Mace of Kansas) represents on The Price Is Right! back before Bob Barker retired. Unfortunately, he didn’t make it to the Showcase Showdown.
Okay, I’m not sure if this got any airplay in Sweden, but it’s so freakin’ good that you need to check it out anyway.
