Hole In One – The Ultimate Rush

What really keeps me playing disc golf? What is the thrill that gets me on the course over and over again? Getting a hole-in-one, otherwise known as the ever coveted ace! I personally have 17 aces in my lifetime and I promise you, it IS the best feeling in the universe. I could quadruple bogey almost every single hole but if I get that coveted ace on that same round, I could care less what my final score happens to be. There are all sorts of traditions that sweeten the ace pot as well. Local clubs usually have an ace fund that pays out up to $250 during weekly league play, extra bonus cash for club members that ace during tournaments the club hosts, tournament ace funds (that can pay out $500 or more, depending on the event), witnesses signing your disc for prosperity, ego stroking and an overall aura of being awesome.

I found ten videos that you can watch as inspiration. Note the joyous celebrations and sound of chains exploding. If these don’t get you itching to get on the course, maybe you need to pick a new sport.

This first one happens to be filmed by yours truly and is my friend Dayne’s first ace. I have never caught any of mine on film and as jealous as I am of this one, I feel pretty good catching his first ace on video and hope that it’s not the last time I can film one.

You can go around trees…

Over the water…

And even in the snow…

They are always a rush…

You can have your dad film them…

You can hit them in big tournaments…

Aces happen in New Zealand…

But regardless, they are always sweet!
